Our Founder

Josue De Paz

CEO & Co-Founder, First Tech Fund

Supporting low-income youth to reach their full potential by providing access to technology, career mentorship, and skills training.

Josue De Paz is the CEO & co-founder of First Tech Fund (FTF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2020 that provides free technology and broadband access, mentorship, digital skills training, and insight into career pathways, while showing students the opportunities that exist and guiding them on how to attain them, equalizing the academic and professional playing fields for low-income students of color. Previously, he was a Community Partnerships Manager at Girls Who Code, where he was responsible for all partnerships, outreach, and strategy across a portfolio of 9 states in the south of the US. Josue has also worked in for-profit roles in financial services and advertising. 

Outside of his role, he was a 2021 Coro Workforce Systems Leadership Fellow and a 2022 Council for Urban Professionals Fellow. Most recently, Josue was one of 12 changemakers selected globally for the 2022-23 Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia University, a leadership development program where Scholars deepen their knowledge and skills and build new capacities and networks to accelerate their impact. Finally, Josue was recently selected as a 2023 Ricardo Salinas Scholar at the Aspen Institute. Josue has been recognized for his work in the nonprofit sector – being named an inaugural recipient of the 2023 Nonprofit Trailblazer award by NYN Media, being named as a 2022 Enduring Ideas recipient from Reinvention Lab at Teach for America, and named as part of the 2021 30 Under 30 class by NextGen Collective by Hispanic Executive Magazine. First Tech Fund was selected as a 2021 recipient of the Make It Awards from the Knicks and Squarespace in support of local entrepreneurs and small businesses who embody the passion and drive of New York.

Originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, Josue immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 and grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from Santa Clara University and is currently a DACA recipient living in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn with his wife and dog.
